It’s an Aussie barbie, mate! Throw a shrimp on the…yeah, we don’t really say that…
I love a barbecue! These recipes are designed to go with the meat and veg that’s grilled on the barbie, with the notion being that your guests will probably bring a green salad or two.
Rock That Barbecue
I’ve kept this playlist rocky and jaunty. We even delve into a few Oz rock classics – remember This Is Not The Way Home by The Cruel Sea and What’s My Scene? by the Hoodoo Gurus? Ah man, I remember seeing the Hoodoo Gurus at the Venue in St Kilda and the sprung parquetry floor felt like a trampoline as we all rocked out to that song.
Hosting tips
Keep it casual. Fill the bath or a big bucket with ice for people to stash their drinks. If you’re expecting a big crowd, consider disposable eco-friendly bamboo plates to supplement your crockery and save on washing up. Have plenty of napkins, cutlery, serving spoons and paper towels on hand.
I’ll be selling wine packs to match this menu soon but meantime, consider red wines such as sangiovese and shiraz to stand up to the meat.
