Chatting summer party bring-a-plate on ABC Afternoons – Dani Valent

I love dropping into 774 ABC Melbourne to chat to Clare Bowditch about food. This week we talked summer party bring-a-plate. Luckily, no-one mentioned the delights of gelatine-moulded crafty Kraft cookery as in this pic. But, as always, listeners rang and texted in with delightful suggestions: I’m intrigued by the combination of zucchini and oyster sauce, I’m craving chicken sandwiches and I’d love a crunchy coleslaw to magically appear before me.

Before we went on air, a man rang in to talk about his go-to BBQ dish of whole heads of garlic, sliced in half, put on the grill then squeezed out of their skin over camembert. YUM!

What do you bring? What do you love or hate to see on a laden table? What did the dog steal? What always goes first? Rice salad does not seem to be so beloved, but perhaps that’s because we’re all about the ancient grains now?
