Chatting soup on ABC Afternoons – Dani Valent

soup Dani Valent thermomix chicken soup recipe

I love dropping into ABC Radio Melbourne to chat about food with Clare Bowditch and her lovely talkback audience. This time we discussed soup, a very important topic as winter starts to grip. As part of my diligent research I even got a terrible cold just to check if soup really does cure winter’s ills. And guess what – it does!

As much as any nutritional benefits of soup, I truly believe that soup’s comforting nature does just as much good: it’s like a hug from the inside. I associate soup with slippers, a blanket across the knees and an early night. It makes me think of golden, crunchy toast with lashings of butter. I also love warming my hands and drifting into snoozy revelry as the steam of my soup drifts face-wards.  It’s just lovely. Oh – and I will also confess to a little soup smugness when I store soup in the freezer to have on hand when the need arises.

There is obviously a lot of soup passion out there because the phones rang hot during our discussion. People called in with great recipes and soup stories. I mentioned a Jo Whitton recipe for chicken and lemon soup and I also have her Creamy Chicken and Brown Rice Soup on high rotation. Listen in here.
